2023 – A Paradigm Shift

Astrology

Astrology is an art and science that dates back thousands of years when people used to study the position of the planets in the night sky, and after having collected a huge amount of data, started to see a correlation between certain human experiences and the position of the planets. These wise people realised that we are one with the Universe and that we are all connected to something far bigger than ourselves.

However, please note that it is never possible to forecast specific events, instead we look at trends and planetary energies that may correlate to certain events and experiences collectively and individually. In the end you are the creator of your own life. You have the power.

Also, if you would like to know how the planetary movements are likely to affect your own astrological birth chart, then contact me for an individual consultation.

2023 is the Year of Big Shifts

Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter and the Lunar Nodes all change signs in 2023 (as a comparison, in 2022 just Jupiter changed signs).

This means that in 2023 you can expect a lot of changes and shifts in many areas. There is a strong forward motion of the planets which means that virtually everything is moving on and up! Keep your eyes open for new opportunities, and then act on them.

Here are the most important transits of the year:

·        Dec 20, 2022: Jupiter enters Aries

·        March 8th, 2023: Saturn enters Pisces

·        March 12th, 2023: Jupiter conjunct Chiron

·        March 23rd, 2023: Pluto enters Aquarius

·        May 16th, 2023: Jupiter enters Taurus

·        June 1st, 2023: Jupiter conjunct North Node at 3°Taurus

·        July 12th, 2023: North Node enters Aries, South Node enters Libra

2022:

Jupiter in Aries

Before I go through the major transits of 2023, let’s just look at an important transit right at the end of 2022. On 20 December 2022 Jupiter re-enters Aries having  first entered Aries in May 2022. A time of optimism plans for the future and maybe rash decisions! We may feel inspired to start something new, and a bit impulsive. Jupiter in Aries is about opportunities, luck, expansion and belief in oneself. We value independence, personal courage, spirit, self-willed efforts, enterprise, directness, and naturalness during this Jupiter cycle. Our attitudes and values concerning religion, moral conduct, education, and politics are free-spirited and liberated. The shadow side is rushing into things without thinking, being too impulsive and taking too many risks. It will be there until 16 May 2023.

Pluto in Aquarius – the most important event in 2023

I will start with the Pluto transit as this is by far the most important event of 2023 as Pluto changes sign. After 14 years of transiting Capricorn, Pluto enters Aquarius on March 23, 2023. It will stay there until 2044. It will however retrograde back into Capricorn from 11 June and then back into Aquarius on 21 January 2024 and will stay there for 20 years. The last time we saw Pluto in Aquarius was in 1777.

Pluto

Common keywords associated with Pluto are: power, depth, transformation, crisis, surrender, resilience, the big natural cycles of birth, death, and rebirth.

Pluto in Capricorn (for the last 14 years) represented ‘top down’ leadership and had to do with a lot of restrictions and things being decided ‘above our heads’. It can also manifest as the CEO, a shadow government, or as a deep, transformative observer of reality. How do we react to them? What relationship do we have with authority figures who display high degrees of personal power?

Aquarius

Let’s look at what Aquarius represents. “Communication” is not only verbal communication, but in general, the “distribution” of thoughts, words, energy, people, resources. It’s interesting that in the human body, Aquarius rules the circulatory system. Aquarius makes sure that information, resources, energy get distributed and shared where they are needed.

We all know that Aquarius rules friends and groups of people. But not only that. Organizations, committees, infrastructure, and councils are all Aquarius. Marketplaces, from the small farmer markets to Amazon, the stock exchange – the largest marketplace in the world – are Aquarius as well.

Because Aquarius rules groups of people, and society is a large group of people, we say that Aquarius rules society as a whole. Society is a sum of all the individuals, plus all the multiple interactions between these people. Society is the most complex Aquarius system out there.

Pluto in Aquarius – The Age of Aquarius

In March 2023, Pluto enters Aquarius for the first time. Seen from Earth, Pluto begins its cosmic dance between Aquarius and Capricorn:

Pluto moves between these two signs until it stays there from January 2024. This process can be seen as an adjustment to the new energies that are coming. We are entering a new paradigm, and Pluto’s retrogradation indicates that we will go through situations that we have already experienced in recent years, so we can see the same thing from a new perspective. In any case, structures and rules “by the book” will continue to surface… too traditional and out of date. These retrogradations can also indicate sudden changes of governments and the restoration of previous ones which represents a struggle between the established power and those who seek change.

How will Pluto operate in Aquarius? Well, if there’s one thing Aquarius doesn’t like, it’s going through life “by the book”. We may experience radical changes on a social level. During the last time that Pluto transited Aquarius, we saw the birth of the French revolution, the independence of the United States, the height of the Enlightenment, Mozart, and the first hot air balloon.

In Aquarius, Pluto focuses on innovation and the Self as an individual in society.

In Capricorn, Pluto focused on patriarchy, social rules, and traditions of the past. In Aquarius, we will investigate the mental structures that form our ideologies, the reasons why we acquire them, and what we believe is social equality.

Pluto will also show us the shadow, what is not seen, what we have repressed – often unconsciously. During his transit through Aquarius, we may experience a powerful desire to exercise individual freedom.

The strength of Pluto in Aquarius will be felt above all by “the people”. The search for recognition as an individual with rights can manifest itself in various ways such as ‘grass root’ movements, ‘power to the people’, a new trend of free thinking, revolutionary tendencies.

Pluto in Aquarius is also ruled by futuristic Uranus, which gives Aquarius the drive to continuously challenge the status quo, make changes, and innovate. Uranus is the planet of the sky, so Aquarius is also connected with sky-related topics like broadbands, air transportation, astronomy, astrology, electricity, reiki, intergalactic communication, and artificial intelligence. Expect some big changes here!

Pluto in Aquarius will expose what is deeply troublesome (Pluto) in our society (Aquarius) so that we can build a better structure and infrastructure for everyone here on Earth.

There may be a complete overhaul of the very fabric of society – and it will be totally worth the intrusive workings of Plutonic transformation. The result? A more resilient, autonomous society that can self-regulate and quickly adapt to circumstances.

Pluto in Aquarius will be as demanding and transformative as any other Pluto transit. It is just that Pluto behaves more naturally in the sign of Aquarius and will put on less of a fight than Pluto in Leo, or Pluto in Cancer would.

“The light at the end of the tunnel” is such a common phrase, that it has lost its significance. Yet, it beautifully describes the silver lining of a Pluto transit. It is only in Pluto’s underworld that we can find the sacred light of pure consciousness, stripped of ego.

While Pluto always asks us to let go of something that we find incredibly difficult to live without, while Pluto may want to break our ego, Pluto never wants to break our spirit. On the contrary. Pluto in Aquarius will help you find your true power. Not a power that seeks to control, take advantage of, and win; but a power that seeks to express one’s truth in a way that serves the best interests of humanity at large.

March 7: Saturn in Pisces

On 7th March Saturn enters Pisces and brings realism to the world of dreams. This also represents the material and non-material and how we can integrate and understand this in our own lives.

Things slow down so that we can see frame by frame what we are building. We have the opportunity to combine our dreams (Pisces) with structure (Saturn) but there may be a conflict between dreams and reality. The challenge is to build realistic dreams! To take constructive action on our dreams.

Saturn in Pisces also means that we are officially “done” with the exhausting, conflicting, 2-year long Saturn-Uranus square. That’s definitely a reason to celebrate!

Two weeks after Saturn enters Pisces, Pluto enters Aquarius. We can then glimpse a change of direction. Many will want to build a new dream! Others will want to wake up!

Saturn in Pisces asks us for internal work and a realistic approach to universal themes. The borders of the collective unconscious are dissolved. Saturn also brings things to form. If we give some kind of shape to such an ethereal sign as Pisces, we can create divine structures and incredible things, or… we can fall into a spiritual confusion, numbing ourselves with entertainment and “happy things”.

Saturn will join forces with Neptune in Pisces, helping us turn those Neptunian dreams into realities.

Saturn and Neptune will not meet in a conjunction, but by sharing the sign, they will get to know each other better, and agree on a common approach. When Saturn and Neptune will eventually meet at 0 degrees in Aries a few years later, they will be creating a completely new reality.

Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac, and while Pisces is not an ending energy for everyone, there is nevertheless an expectation to bring to the highest degree of manifestation some of the projects we’ve been working on for decades now.

It is interesting that Pisces rules organised religion and Aquarius individual spirituality. We can now see a slow shift away from organised religion (which has actually been going on for some time) and into a universal spirituality.

March 12: Jupiter Conjunct Chiron in Aries

On March 12th, 2023, we have a rare conjunction between Jupiter and Chiron in Aries.

Jupiter and Chiron only meet each other in Aries once every 50 years on average. This conjunction is particularly important for people born with Chiron in Aries, but it will influence each one of us, depending on where it falls in your birth chart.

What’s even more unique about this astrological event is that Venus will also conjunct Jupiter and Chiron. Venus will make things personal, emotional and with a focus on relationships.

All Chiron transits come with an opportunity to heal deep rooted wounds and find wholeness. We may experience old wounds again, but only so that we can let them go. Chiron asks us to pay attention to those parts of us that we have neglected or hidden away, but with both Jupiter and Venus conjunct Chiron it will be a wonderful opportunity to heal and to move forward with joy. It is a matter of living from the heart and to restore your passion and aliveness.

May 16:  Jupiter enters Taurus

On May 16, Jupiter, the planet of exploration and expansion goes into Taurus, the sign of calm, tranquillity, values, and the senses. Jupiter will be in Taurus for the rest of the year. During this period, the energy of Jupiter expands our instincts. There may be a great desire for comfort and stability. This can bring an inclination to indulge and overspend! However, the gift of Jupiter in Taurus allows us to be more connected to our body and the intuition, so that we can make decisions based on inner wisdom rather than a stressed mind.

Jupiter is coming close to forming a conjunction with Uranus later in the year. Uranus, the rebel, transits through this sign from 2018 to 2026 but in Taurus changes are resisted! There is a desire for something new (Uranus and Jupiter), but it is balanced by Taurus who want everything to slow down and be more stable. This could actually be good for the economy as Taurus rules finances and Jupiter opportunities. What Uranus will be doing here is a little more uncertain! With Uranus in Taurus, we’re not just talking about the economy, but our relationship with the earth and other species. Greta Thunberg began her activism in 2018, simultaneously with the entry of Uranus into Taurus.

For all signs, this is a time to achieve great things, and recognize and use our own personal resources and build a future for ourselves.

North Node in Aries, South Node in Libra 2023-2025

In July 2023, the Nodes move into Aries and Libra. The Lunar Nodes point to those areas of life where we are asked to find a new direction, sometimes through a rebalancing of priorities.

When the Nodes were in Gemini and Sagittarius, we had the Covid crisis which brought the restriction of movement. With the South Node in Sagittarius, the international borders were closed, asking us to find solutions in our immediate environment (North Node in Gemini).

When the Nodes moved into Taurus and Scorpio, we had the financial and energy crisis. With the South Node in Scorpio, the sign of shared resources, we have learned to no longer rely on traditional sources of energy and become resource self-reliant.

Now that the Nodes move in the signs of identity, Aries and Libra, we are asked to find a balance between who we are as individuals, and our relationships and social networks.

With the South Node in Libra, some long partnerships and alliances will come to an end. The North Node in Aries will ask us to find our unique voice and motivations, set boundaries, fight for our individual goals, and find new ways to express ourselves.

The Rest of the Year

As you can see, the first half of 2023 is rather intense with a lot of movement. A great change of consciousness prepares us for a new period, full of surprises, innovations, and demands that will shake known structures.

The second half of the year looks quieter with Jupiter in Taurus (calm and steadiness) until May 25, 2024. Along with Saturn in Pisces, it seems as if the universe has designed a year of great social change but also with a haven of peace and spirituality – but all this of course depends on your own state of consciousness.

Cosmic intelligence shows us a natural coherence to which we are acclimatising. These changes have already occurred in the past and humanity has survived them. In fact, they always lead us toward progress.

Uranus is in Taurus until 2026 and with Pluto in Aquarius the focus will be on transforming our ideals so that they reflect a more coherent and simple vision. Ecological issues will be very present and also the conflicts of interest that affect them. It is important that we are open to new concepts, even if they are unusual and different from what we know and that we look at them with curiosity, instead of fear.

The Saturn/Jupiter conjunction takes place at 0.1 degrees Aquarius (both planets having spent a long time in Capricorn). Some people say that this is our proper entrance into the Aquarian Age (you may have heard of this) and this represents a major shift away from the 'heavy' and materialistic earth signs where the Jupiter/Saturn cycle has occurred for the last 200 years. We are now shifting into a 200-year long Jupiter/Saturn cycle in air signs.

6 Valentine’s Self-Love Tips Valentine's Day puts the emphasis on love for someone special in your life. But did you ever think that, YOU are someone special in your life? Why not make this day about loving yourself ? In honor of February 14, the designated day of love, here are a few ways to practice self-love: 1. Practice acceptance. Learning to accept yourself for who you are is the most important step to self-love. Stop comparing yourself to others and learn to embrace the person you are. You have beautiful qualities, both physical and emotional. You don't need to look or talk or act like anyone else. We all offer the world something different. That's what makes it so beautiful. 2. Take care of yourself. Taking care of your body shows you have respect for the amazing temple your soul inhabits. 3. Nourish your body. Replenishing your body with clean water and real, whole food is a loving gesture. As they say, you are what you eat. Show your body that it matters by providing the high-quality nutrients it needs to thrive. 4. Be grateful. Are you grateful to have a healthy body that you can move? How lucky are you to have a job to provide for you and your family? Finding things to be grateful for on a daily basis can help change your inner dialogue. If you tend toward negative internal conversation, gratitude is a wonderful way to change that. 5. Get comfortable with "me time." So many people struggle with the idea of taking time for themselves. They dedicate their lives to taking care of children or elderly parents, and the thought of taking a couple of hours for themselves brings too much guilt. Well, I am here to tell you that there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking some "me" time. Even just an hour every now and then can help to recharge and reenergise you. This is not only important for your own well-being but for those around you. 6. Enjoy yourself! Life is short! It doesn't have to be so serious. While there is a time and a place to be serious, there should also be plenty of time to enjoy yourself. When was the last time you laughed out loud? Or sang at the top of your lungs? Allowing yourself to be creative and let loose will boost your spirits and remind you that life isn't just about work. There can still be some playtime in there, too!
